How to Plan a Wedding as an Aquarius, According to Astrologers

Here’s what’s written in the stars for your big day if you were born under this Air sign.

As an Air sign, those born under the Aquarius zodiac (or anyone with a birthday between January 20 and February 18) are known for being inquisitive, intellectual, and highly concerned with their relationships; while some Aquarians are extremely social, boasting a wide circle of friends, others prioritize fewer deeper relationships. They also tend to be extremely original, innovative people who love to dream big, but they are known for being stubborn. So, as an Aquarius planning a wedding, there are a lot of factors you’ll want to consider. “They may be open to unique ideas, perspectives, and situations taking place at their wedding—such as opting for shocking colors in their wardrobe or décor—[and] this is due to them being ruled by Uranus,” says astrologer Kyle Thomas. “However, they are also a fixed sign, which means that when they set their mind on something, they are unlikely to be swayed! When an Aquarius knows what they want, they will focus intensely on it!”

While your relationship with your soon-to-be spouse is clearly priority number one, making sure everyone in your inner circle—family members, friends, and even some acquaintances—feels thought of on the big day is key for you. Your top priority will likely be planning a wedding with a clear sense of community, and finding a venue that can accommodate your entire guest list—whatever the final number ends up being—will be hugely important to you.

As a creative thinker, you see possibilities everywhere, so your wedding is a blank slate just brimming with possibilities; in the end, you’ll need to decide which elements of the big day you want to prioritize and remain focused on making your final decisions.

Ready to see what the stars have in store for your wedding day? Here, the ultimate guide to planning a wedding as an Aquarius.

Wedding Planning

No rash decisions here! When it comes to wedding planning, you’re bound to mull over every single option, thus ensuring that your final choice—be it for a venue, your attire, or the place settings—is the right one for you and your partner. “As an analytical Air sign, Aquarians like to take an intellectual approach to all plans they make,” says Thomas. “In a sense, it’s as if they analyze all of the moving parts of an issue—in this case, their wedding planning—like a machine.” Don’t let anyone pressure you into feeling like you’re moving too slowly; this is all part of your process.

Doesn’t sound like you? Julia Topaz of Look Up the Stars Astrology notes that some Aquarius brides and grooms will prefer to trust an expert to handle the finer details. “[They may not feel] invested in the process of wedding planning, finding it easy to give the reins to a professional,” she explains. If that’s the case for you, find a wedding planner whose judgment you trust implicitly. They’ll be your eyes and ears throughout the process and can help you make the very best decisions.

Wedding Season

If you’ve been dreaming of a winter wedding, Thomas says to go for it. After all, Aquarius season (January 20 through February 18) is one of your best times for romance and marriage. If a late spring wedding is more your speed, consider Gemini season, choosing a date between May 21 and June 20. Love the heat of summer? Thomas adds that Leo season, or July 23 through August 22, is another ideal time for you to say “I do.” Late fall or early winter are other promising options; Thomas notes that tying the knot around the Gemini full moon, which will happen between November 21 and December 22 each year, is ideal for an Aquarius bride or groom.

Wedding Venue

Finding a venue that can accommodate your guest list requirements (Thomas notes that “highly social” Aquarians will want to invite family, close friends, and acquaintances from all parts of their lives) is essential, so be sure to figure out who you want to invite before signing a contract. As for where you should tie the knot? Our experts say to consider somewhere with lots of open space that’s easy for everyone to get to. “As the most community-focused zodiac sign, Aquarians will want a venue that speaks to their free spirit,” says Thomas. “They will likely choose a venue that is easy for people to attend at a central location because the more the merrier!”

And standard wedding venues likely won’t do. Thomas adds that an Aquarius bride or groom “may also choose a venue that has higher technology or a unique flair.”

Wedding Décor

Make sure to set aside a good chunk of change for your floral budget, Aquarius! According to astrologer Lisa Stardust, lots of greenery and flowers will make your celebration complete. As for your ideal color palette, she suggests a pairing of white and lavender for a fairy-tale vibe. According to Thomas, “Aquarius rules technology, so don’t be shocked if they choose to include some fabulous ‘cool’ technology somehow in the [wedding!]” Unique lighting and interactive dance floors are two good options.

Wedding Food and Drink

Those born under the Aquarius sign crave connection, so a family-style meal, which will allow all of your guests to interact as they pass plates, certainly wouldn’t be out of the question. If something more formal is your speed, you can’t go wrong with a traditional plated dinner. That being said, you’ll likely want to liven up the offerings by offering twists on the classics; you might choose to work with your caterer to customize your favorite dishes or serve up a variety of different courses with very unique displays. As for drinks, Stardust recommends choosing a “Starboard Spritz” (a reimagined take on a classic Aperol Spritz) as your signature cocktail “due to the fruity and fizzy flavor that speaks to unique sign.”

Wedding Cake

Dessert is a big deal for you, Aquarius, so you’ll want to choose something that makes a statement. “Aquarius is represented by the water bearer. They are graceful yet bold and stand firm to their beliefs,” says Stardust. “The wedding cake should be a blue marble with pearl detailing, making reference to the sea.” If that doesn’t align with your aesthetic, don’t worry: Choose something that’s understated with a subtle blue or pearlescent accent. A confection decorated with fresh flowers, covered in sugar detailing, or even placed upon a unique cake stand would do the trick.

Wedding Fashion

Aquarius brides and grooms know what they want, and they won’t give up on their sartorial vision just because it’s not in line with the latest trends and styles. “[An Aquarius] would choose [wedding attire] that is reflective [of their] personal taste and style, with little regard to how convenient or conventional [the] choice is,” says Topaz. While that might mean a classic white gown or black tuxedo, it also might mean colorful attire, unique silhouettes, or unexpected materials. Ultimately, you’ll know what you gravitate towards and will likely connect with a style before you start shopping or at the outset of your fashion journey.

Honeymoon Destination

Where should an Aquarius go on their newlywed vacation? According to Stardust, there are some scenic spots with your name on them. “Part air and part water, the wetlands speak to the Aquarius’s unique nature,” she says. “Whether it be viewing street art or strolling under Waterfalls, the freedom seeking Aquarian within you will vibe with wild animals running freely against the breathtaking scenic backdrop of Cancun, Mexico.”

If Mexico isn’t your speed, seek out a beach locale with more to do than just lounging by the ocean. Exploration and activities will be important for your creative mind, but you’ll likely be looking for some R&R, too.
