When Chrissy Teigen and John Legend tied the knot at Villa Pizzo in Lake Como, Italy, in 2013, they hosted a carefully-planned celebration filled with elaborate décor, fine dining, and celebrity performances. However, there was one moment from their big day that totally went off script. In an interview with People, which was published on October 5, 2023, the model admitted that she let a curse word slip while exchanging vows with the “Conversations in the Dark” singer.

“John’s uncle was the pastor, and he was officiating our wedding, and I dropped the ring,” Teigen recounted. “I—of course—said, ‘Oh, s**t!’ into the mic, and [the pastor] was just a little taken aback by it. He was like, ‘That’s Chrissy.’” More than a decade later, whenever Teigen recalls that honest moment, she still has a good laugh. In fact, the model said cursing during her vows is still “a cherished memory” from their big day.

Overall, Teigen told the outlet that their wedding was perfect, but if she could go back and change one moment, she would probably let herself dance more. During their reception, Stevie Wonder performed “Ribbon in the Sky” for the newlyweds’ first dance, but Teigen opted out. “He performed our first dance, but I didn’t have a first dance,” she admitted. “I really wasn’t dancing because I’m too nervous to dance in front of people. That’s more of a regret of mine than a cherished memory—that I didn’t really have a first dance.”

Music was a big part of the couple’s day, especially given Legend’s award-winning career as an artist. In addition to Wonder’s performance, the groom himself also shared his vocals with the couple’s friends and family. At one point during the reception, Legend serenaded his wife with “All of Me,” which he wrote about Teigen. “Everyone was in tears,” an insider told People at the time. “It was so beautiful.”

A decade after they first said “I do,” Teigen and Legend returned to their wedding venue to renew their vows in honor of their 10th wedding anniversary. For the occasion, the model departed from the traditional white wedding dress in favor of two black ensembles from Zuhair Murad and a silver and blue mini dress. “She was just glowing in every stunning outfit,” an insider told People. Along with a star-studded guest list, the pair's children, Luna, Miles, Esti, and Wren, took part in the festivities. “It was special for them to have all their kids be part of their wedding anniversary and renewal,” the source added.
