It’s normal for most couples to experience a little bit of pre-wedding jitters before they tie the knot, whether it’s due to the pressure of making sure everything falls into place or finding the time to attend to last-minute details. But for Donato Frattaroli and his fiancée, Magda Masri, they’re experiencing another source of stress: The couple’s golden retriever, Chickie, ate the groom-to-be’s passport. Since the future newlyweds, who are residents of Boston, are going to host their wedding reception in Italy on August 31, 2023, they’ll need a passport to get into the country, thereby contributing to some of their worries. “Just a little stressed,” Frattaroli admits. “Keeping my fingers crossed, and hopefully, everything will work itself out.”

Frattaroli spotted his passport on Chickie’s bed and noticed it wasn’t in great condition, ABC News reports on August 21, 2023. When Frattaroli opened up the book, he saw that his dog had chewed through multiple pages of his passport a week before he and Masri are supposed to fly to Italy. “She kinda knew what she did, and all of a sudden, she got really cuddly, you know, head on the lap kind of thing,” Frattaroli explains.

Immediately after seeing the damage, Frattaroli reached out to the couple’s local congressional representatives, including Representative Stephen Lunch and Senator Edward Markey of Massachusetts, per the outlet. The future groom explained the situation and asked for assistance, so he can try to make the celebration in time. According to Frattaroli, the congressmen have been “super responsive.” “They’ve been in touch with at least me and the state department to try to expedite things and help me get a new passport,” the groom-to-be notes.

The couple is hopeful that the new passport will arrive before jetting off to Italy. “I’m optimistic it’s going to work out,” Mazri says. If the soon-to-be groom’s replacement doesn’t come in time, the couple has decided that Mazri and their wedding guests will travel to Italy without Frattaroli, and he’ll be there to welcome them home when they return to the United States.

Another couple recently experienced an issue with their passport on the way to their honeymoon. After Lawryn and Joe Fellwock said “I do,” they were planning on flying from Detroit, Michigan to San, Juan Puerto Rico, so they could enjoy post-wedding Caribbean cruise, according to ABC 7. While the duo was sitting on the plane to Puerto Rico, preparing for takeoff, Lawryn realized her passport was nowhere to be found. The couple decided to document the dilemma on Instagram and brainstorm possible solutions. “I would say about halfway through the flight, we realized noting we could come up with was going to work, so I kind just threw a Hail Mary,” Joe recounted.

The couple shared the situation with one of the flight attendants on board, Dusty Dills, who decided to help the newlyweds out. “Dusty told us, ‘You know, this here’s what I can do, Joe,’” Joe said. “‘I’m flying back to Detroit right after this flight. I’m turning around, so if you can somehow get the passport to DTW around 9:00 or whatever it is I land, I can then take it with me the next day to Atlanta.’” Then, another Delta worker would continue the mission to San Juan. The pair agreed to the plan because the only other option would be to postpone or cancel their honeymoon. The operation ended up being a success. After Joe’s sister Jackie brought Lawryn’s passport to the Detroit Metro Airport and found Dusty, the flight attendant flew the passport to Atlanta and passed it along to other Delta employees who brought it to San Juan, where the couple embraced it with open arms. “I consider that the greatest wedding gift we could have asked for,” Lawryn gushed. “I felt like probably the luckiest bride on Earth.”
