Once you’ve said “I do” and shared a great meal with your wedding guests, there's one thing you, your partner, and all of your big-day attendees will be craving: dessert. Though your celebratory dessert can come take on just about any form—from cupcakes and pie to cookies or ice cream—a traditional tiered wedding cake still tends to be the most popular option. It's also the one that can be the most expensive. If you know you want to serve wedding cake but also need to be mindful of your budget, consider a dessert option from your local grocery store.

A grocery store wedding cake can provide significant cost savings when it comes to managing your budget, and if you’re a Sam’s Club member, you already have a built-in bakery at your fingertips. The Sam’s Club bakery offers a variety of wedding cake choices in multiple sizes, which means it's easy to find the ideal fit for your big day. Plus, if you've been a club member for years, you may already have a favorite flavor you love to serve for other special occasions.

Think this might be a great fit for your wedding? Read on for everything you need to know about Sam’s Club wedding cakes.

Sam’s Club Wedding Cake Sizes

The Sam’s Club bakery has a long list of options for cake sizes. If you’re hoping for a traditional tiered cake, you'll be pleased to know that both two- and three-tiered round cakes are available. The two-tiered wedding cake serves 46 guests and costs $49.99, while the three-tier wedding cake serves 66 guests and costs $69.99. It's worth noting that Sam's Club is one of the only grocery store bakeries that provide three-tiered wedding cakes.

If you're hosting a smaller wedding or simply want a cutting cake to pair with a dessert table, Sam's Club has you covered: They also offer a 10-inch round double-layer cake that serves 16 guests for $22.50. Other options—including half sheet cakes, full sheet cakes, and packs of cupcakes in either a 30-count or 15-count—are also available. You may want to purchase one of the tiered cake options and supplement with sheet cakes or cupcakes in order to feed a larger guest count.

Sam’s Club Wedding Cake Flavors and Designs

The options for flavors and designs at Sam’s Club are fairly limited, which means a wedding cake from the retailer is really only a great option if you’re looking for an incredibly simple dessert. For sheet cakes or cupcakes, you can choose between white or chocolate cake, but all round cakes are only available with white cake. You can choose from white or chocolate buttercream icing, or opt for a whipped icing for a lighter choice. Sam’s Club has a few design choices in their lookbook for weddings, but your store’s cake decorator may be able to help with another design. You can, however, order your cake with a silver monogram cake topper to make it a bit more personalized.

Sam’s Club cakes are also a great option if you hope to display a floral cake. You can ask for a plain iced cake, and then dress it up on your own with fresh blooms on your wedding day.

How to Order a Sam’s Club Wedding Cake

To order a wedding cake from Sam’s Club, you'll need to have a current membership. Sam’s Club stores accept custom cake orders both over the phone or in person, but there is a specific order form you'll need to complete that details your request for either a two-tiered or three-tiered cake; it also outlines other sizes including sheet cakes, round cakes, and cupcakes.

If you have a specific request for decorations or flavor combinations, be sure to consult the bakery’s cake decorator while ordering. It’s best to order your cake two weeks to one month before the date you need it, but check with your local store on the best timing to ensure you have your wedding day sweet on time.
