Scorpios are known for being one of the most enigmatic signs of the zodiac. Born between October 23 and November 21, a Scorpio has the emotional depth that is common to other Water signs like Pisces and Cancer, but has the sting and passion of its symbolic animal, the Scorpion. Though they’re often private, moody, and have a flair for the dramatic, this passionate sign goes all in on romance and sensuality. What’s more, Scorpios place a great deal of value on loyalty and intimacy, so when they fall for someone, they expect deep commitment. Getting engaged is a serious step for a Scorpio and will only do so with someone they truly consider to be their soulmate.

“As the most intense and passionate zodiac sign, Scorpios are ‘all or nothing’ in all areas of life. If they’re getting married, they will want their ceremony to reflect the depth within them and of their love,” shares celebrity astrologer Kyle Thomas. In terms of aesthetic, the Water sign might not be one to choose a light and airy aesthetic. “A Scorpio would take an intense approach to wedding planning and select a dark, mysterious venue,” notes Julia Topaz, founder of Look Up the Stars Astrology. Since a Scorpio is known to have more psychic abilities of the signs, “they are likely to choose a venue that might be unconventional, spiritual, and mystic.”

If you’re a Scorpio who has recently gotten engaged, you might be curious about how you should approach your own wedding planning journey. Here, astrologers share tips that will help your sign thrive throughout the process. From how to approach the design of your day to the best date to exchange vows, these ideas will guide any Scorpio toward a celebration written in the stars.

Wedding Planning

If a Scorpio is getting married, you can expect the day to be incredibly emotional. Not only will the couple’s love be on full display throughout the celebration, but the passionate sign will also want the look of the wedding to bring plenty of romantic drama. “Scorpios may be drawn to moodier colors and motifs, allowing them to dig deep into their emotions and show the world—and all of their guests—that their marriage is truly special and a step above the rest,” says Thomas.

“Scorpios also like to ‘innocently’ flaunt what they and their partner have, so while their wedding may not be entirely flamboyant and over the top like some of the other zodiac signs, they will still want to make sure that everyone ‘feels’ and ‘knows’ how special their relationship is,” adds Thomas. The water sign will definitely like to write their own vows and reveal to their partner how deep and meaningful their love and partnership is in front of their closest circle.

Wedding Season

A Scorpio will want to say “I do” when their sign is best positioned for romance and marriage. According to Thomas, these dates include Scorpio season, which falls from October 23 to November 21, Pisces season, which occurs February 19 through March 20, Taurus season, from April 20 to May 20, and near a full moon in Pisces, which happens each year between August 23 and September 22. An early summer wedding may be the least ideal time for a Scorpio to wed.

Wedding Venue

When choosing a wedding venue, this Water sign will likely not select a minimalist location. “Because Scorpios are ruled by Mars and Pluto, they are also a zodiac sign that has a flair for the dramatic,” shares Thomas. “Their wedding venue will likely have a mysterious, enigmatic atmosphere, with a passionate, memorable flair. They may be drawn to include unique water sculptures, fountains, or moody lighting.” A castle, botanical garden, or dramatic estate could be a great venue location for this sign.

Wedding Décor

A Scorpio will be all about setting the mood and planning a wedding full of passion and romance. “A sultry and dramatic wedding color palette of moody hues, such as dark burgundy, plum, and black, will enhance the mood,” suggests astrologer Lisa Stardust. These tones can be infused into the floral arrangements, linens, and other accents throughout the day’s décor. Lighting could also be a great tool for Scorpios hoping to create more drama in their reception space.

Wedding Food and Drink

Water sign Scorpio loves food that is sensual and full of bold flavors, so they likely will find some unique bites to include on their big-day menu. Oysters will be found at cocktail hour and a decadent treat like a dark chocolate soufflé would be a great addition to the dessert lineup. As for beverages, Stardust says, “Scorpio would like a rich and spicy wine for their intense nature.”

Wedding Cake

“Scorpio is the zodiac sign most closely linked to pleasure and seduction,” explains Stardust. “Choosing a black and white wedding cake exudes the mystery and romance that a Scorpio craves.” The sign will make sure the flavors are also unexpected to surprise guests with a delicious bite.

Wedding Fashion

If you’re guessing which sign will most likely choose a sexy wedding gown, you can place your bets on a Scorpio. “She would choose a dramatic, sultry dress that reflects her deep, mysterious personality,” Topaz says of Scorpio brides. “She could choose a dress that is somewhat provocative.” Stardust adds, “A slip dress can radiate the seductive and chic vibes they want without going overboard.” Scorpio grooms will likely embrace a dark suit. As for this Water sign’s beauty look, “Her makeup will be more so in the realm of the ‘dark feminine’ with dramatic eyeliner and bold lip color,” shares Topaz.

Honeymoon Destination

“A coastal town, where the land meets the ocean, is where Scorpio longs to be,” explains Stardust, so when the Water sign chooses a destination for their honeymoon, a trip to a tropical locale where they can relax with their new spouse should be the goal. “The smell of fresh sea air and sunsets along the beach speak to Scorpios subconscious yearnings in Kauai, Hawaii.”
