9 Bridalwear Trends from Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2023

We can’t believe it, but another New York Bridal Fashion Week has come to a close. This year was a bit different, as designers began to finally show their collections in person after two years of virtual appointments and runways. As we returned to a slight sense of normalcy, we also experienced a new batch of remarkable looks, from both renowned designers and emerging brands who are making a name for themselves within the bridalwear space.

Brands like Elie Saab, Amsale, and Monique Lhuillier showcased jaw-dropping ballgowns, paying homage to traditional trends that will forever be here to stay within wedding fashion. We also continued to see a surge of contemporary designs like mini dresses, colorful gowns, and modern separates, from Rosie Assoulin, Scorcesa, Safiyaa, and Nadia Manjarrez Studio. But even with a diverse range of styles presented this market season, one common theme we can surely agree on is that the bridal industry has openly embraced change. There are more looks now, than ever before, that cater to brides of all aesthetics.

Blue Hues

Blue is the new pink. For years we’ve seen various iterations of pink wedding gowns, but this season signaled a change and the color blue was center stage. Amsale, Ines Di Santo, and Nadia Manjarrez Studio all took a chance by constructing gorgeous blue gowns fit for any bridal celebration.

Sheer Fabrics

Bold designs were taken to new heights, with designers opting for gowns that feature utterly sheer fabrics. Dana Harel, Galia Lahav, and Mira Zwillinger stepped it up a notch by incorporating crystal embellishments throughout their barely-there bridal designs.

Asymmetrical Necklines

Necklines are always a trend we look out for each season, and the Spring 2023 collections brought a few interpretations of this design element—one being asymmetrical necklines. Collections from Anne Barge, THEIA, and Romona Keveža all incorporated looks that featured this new, trendy silhouette.

Mock Necks

A second neckline trend that graced the runway this season was mock necks. Royally inspired, this silhouette has been seen on celebrities like Paris Hilton, Ellie Goulding, and Lady Kitty Spencer, and has increasingly grown in popularity over the past few years. Anne Barge, Ines by Ines Di Santo, and Madeline Gardner Signature are all but a few designers who featured this style for the Spring 2023 season.

Heirloom Separates

As we've seen in the past few years, brides are ditching traditional ballgowns for more modern designs, with separates becoming a bridalwear staple. For Spring 2023, Galvan London, Scorcesa, and Safiyaa (in addition to many other collections!) designed two-piece looks that could easily be worn long after a bride says "I do."

Party Minis

The mini dress has made its way through several Bridal Fashion Week seasons, and we can only hope that designers continue to embrace this trend. Peter Langner, LOVESHACKFANCY, and Costarellos were a few brands that presented dresses with short hemlines, for the bride who's not afraid to show a little skin on the big day.

Even with the surge of mini dresses, there's still a demand for glamorous ballgowns, especially with the return of large-scale weddings. Hermione de Paula, Elie Saab, and Monique Lhuillier produced some of the most breathtaking ballgowns for brides looking to feel like the belle of their ball.

Oversized Floral Motifs

Floral designs aren't new within bridalwear, but the Spring 2023 collections reworked this classic motif by designing more oversized embroideries. Elie Saab, Reem Acra, and Lela Rose were designers who were able to turn this traditional aesthetic into something more modern.
