Are you going to a wedding for the first time? Or is it the 10th time in a row? Either way, it's easy to feel uninspired or indecisive about how to style your hair as a wedding guest. You'll want your hairdo to look special, but also be practical enough to do on your own. It also needs to last for a long time—we're talking from the ceremony to the after party.

We spoke to veteran hairstylist and hOURS Haircare Founder MariLynne Cosmillo about how to recreate three trending hairstyles from the social media platform; the looped bun, braided ponytail, and midi flip. These styles work on all hair types and lengths, go with different dress styles, and best of all, are easy to recreate with Cosmillo's tips and product recommendations.

The Looped Bun

If your hair is long enough to pull into a bun, then this looped version is the perfect twist. When it comes to wedding hairstyles, Cosmillo says she prefers a soft finish, and the looped bun is a great way to embrace your natural texture while still pulling off a polished look.

How to get the look:

• First, prep hair by doing an all-over mist of a texturizing spray like the Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray to prevent the ponytail from sagging and hair pins from slipping. Starting with a clean part, section off the hair in front of the ears on each side and clip them out of the way.
• Pull the rest of your hair back into a tight ponytail. On the last tie-twist, don't pull the length of the hair all the way through, stopping when your pony folds into just a small loop. Spray to secure the pulled-back hair with hairspray. You can't go wrong with the classic L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hairspray.
• Bring back one front section of hair beneath the loop, reaching for any length from the ponytail, and gently bring it up and over the pony and secure it with one or two bobby pins directing them behind the hair tie. Once the style is complete, spray the hairspray onto your hands to gently smooth down any flyaways for a polished finish.
  

The Braided Ponytail

The braided ponytail is as easy as your regular ponytail, but looks more elevated thanks to the plaits. It's especially striking with a high-neck or backless dress. "Long hair of any texture will get the most out of this look because you’ll be able to achieve a neater, longer braid," says Cosmillo. "If you have shorter hair, or if your layers poke out of the braid, change it into a braided bun by wrapping it around the base of your ponytail and securing it with a few bobby pins."

How to get the look:

• Apply a mousse, like John Frieda Volume Lift Air Whipped Foam, throughout dry hair, focusing on the hairline to create a sleek, damp effect.
• .Using a boar brush, smooth and tightly pull hair upwards, gathering at the crown. Tilt the head upwards when securing the ponytail to prevent sagging.
• Depending on the length and texture of the hair, you’ll want to choose how many braids and what finish is best. On short or fine hair, create multiple braids and loosely twist them together into a bun for a fuller effect. On long or thick hair, apply the mousse to the length of the hair and weave into a neat braid for a sleek, shiny look. The Midi-Flick

If you prefer wearing your hair down rather than in an updo, try the Midi Flick, which is all about body and movement. Cosmillo says it works best on shoulder-length hair, but you can do it on longer and shorter lengths if there are layers to play with.

How to get the look:

• On wet hair, apply a golf ball size amount of a mousse, like John Frieda Volume Lift Air Whipped Foam, evenly throughout the hair, root-to-tips.
• Working in sections, roughly dry hair and use a medium 1.5-inch round brush. Roll each section of hair in the brush up to your roots and allow it to set for a moment before removing. This will help create that curvature and slight flick on the ends as your hair settles.
• Once hair is dry, lift the top section of hair straight up and spray a texturizing spray, like Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray, near the roots, working in an in-and-upward motion to evenly apply at the ends. This works to maximize the volume throughout the hair for longer-lasting body and fullness.
